Robinson Middle School

The Robinson building was named after longtime Aurora educator, Jessie Robinson. The Middle School encompasses grades four through six, with an enrollment of approximately 500 students, averaging 22.2 students per classroom. The middle school is designed to be a transition for students between elementary and junior high school. Required courses at Robinson Middle School include language arts, reading, mathematics, social science, science, health and physical education. Elective courses include vocal music and instrumental music. Exploration classes include art, music appreciation, P.E., computers, and careers. Students have access to services for remedial reading, at-risk programs, gifted education, migrant education, and special education. The Migrant and Gifted education programs for the district are housed in the middle school.

Robinson Middle School has a state of the art computer applications lab, which each student goes for instruction. Nearly half of all students take part in beginning band at 6th grade and many also participate in Robinson Middle School Honor Choir. There is also a very active student council. Students may run for homeroom representatives, secretary, treasure, vice-president, and president. The student council sponsors service projects during the year including boo-grams at Halloween, food collections at Thanksgiving, a mitten tree for Christmas, valentines for the cerebral palsy center, and several spirit activities during the year.
